Maggie shares so many pearls of wisdom in this podcast. "Raise children to be the helpers, teach our kids civic responsibility early in life. Make sure you drown them in lots of moments of exquisite joy and delight, and be a really ridiculous nannie. Being ridiculous is one of the the most joyful parts of being a grandparent".
My guest is Maggie Dent. Commonly known as the ‘queen of common sense’, Maggie Dent has become one of Australia’s favourite parenting authors and educators. She has a particular interest in the early years, adolescence and resilience.
Maggie’s experience includes teaching, counselling, and working in palliative care/funeral services and suicide prevention. Maggie is an advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities. She is a passionate, positive voice for children of all ages.
My Guest is Robyn Wright. We laughed and I nearly cried when she relayed the story of her 4 yr old grandson dropping the "C bomb" at Bunnings one day!!!
Robyn is a wife, mum of 3, grandma of 5, daughter, sister and friend. After a nursing career lasting almost 47 years (give or take a few years off when the kids were born) she is about to retire – and can’t wait! She loves to catch up with family and friends, and loves photography, travel, cooking, reading and going to the movies. Grandparenting is one of the biggest joys in Robyn’s life and one that she feels so thankful to be able to experience. Robyn’s favourite season is autumn and her favourite time of the year is definitely Christmas!
My guest is Wendy Haynes. Wendy has been a family celebrant for 27 years and provides training and resources to celebrants around the world. Wendy also facilitates online mindfulness meditation and nonviolent communication programs globally. Outside of her work she loves to meditate, write poetry and play in her garden. She lives next door to her partner of 25 years.
